DIPLOMA IN APPLIED LINGUISTICS

This course is designed for English Language Teachers and related disciplines. It is suitable for teachers who want to enhance their professional development and careers. It is also an excellent course for teacher trainers.

Theories of language and teaching, Psycholinguistics: first and second language acquisition and cognitive models of language, Characteristics of language development, International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), Phonetics and phonetic transcription, Rules concerning pronunciation, Pronunciation and meaning, How to improve pronunciation, Teaching pronunciation, Skills for teaching pronunciation.

Entry requirements
This course is available to all teachers who have a Dip TEFL/TESL/ELT or equivalent and one year teaching experience.

Study hours
The approximate amount of time required to complete this course is 240 hours.

Assessment
Each lesson has practice exercises that you complete to develop your professional practice. There is also an assignment after each of the two course modules. You email these two assignments to your online tutor. Your tutor is available online to give you constructive feedback and support throughout your course.
